This means, if you develop a strong work ethic, you will likely enjoy your work more.
Based on this fundamental principle, I would have to say, “I love cooking for shearers!” Without them, the wool industry has no future. They work hard for their money while living away from their families, so they deserve to be fed well. By the same token, a shearer’s cook also works hard - so don’t you shearers come late for meals, otherwise all you will get is a hot tongue and cold shoulder! As my husband David says, “If you have a good cook, the team is happy and the job gets done. So don’t upset the cook!”
My mother-in-law Marie taught me how to cook for shearers and we often talked about writing a Shearers Cookbook together. With much prompting from my family, may this be a book that gets handed down through the generations to come.
This book is designed to feed 12 workers for 2 weeks, without time consuming recipes. There’s not a lot of time between runs and the food can’t be too spicy. It needs to be plain but tasty, and lots of it!
The recipes I use are mainly handed down through family and friends with some modifications to my liking. So I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have inspired me with their recipes to be included in my shearing menu.

A beautiful book that came beautifully wrapped . It is a delightfully personal story of life in the country. The people who work and create together to make for caring communities and their contributions , both big and small , that help to make their whole life more comfortable. Every part of the book tells a story , including the photos and the way it is bound together.
Had been waiting for a year .. last batch had sold out. Truly worth waiting for. Fabulous recipes ( hearty wholesome tasty ) with items you would have in the pantry.

Even after over 40 years of cooking for shearers, this book was so helpful! Some great hints, tips and recipes that I hadn't thought of. The suggested menus make for easy shopping and meal prep. Great use of leftovers too! Highly recommend for new and experienced cooks alike. Thankyou

Enjoyed reading all the recipes as I used to cook for the shearer’s when we shore- didn’t get in the last day when my daughter was born in 1974- first cooked for shearer’s in 1971 when just married didn’t have much idea but an old shearer taught me what to do each morning before he left - when my last child was born in 1977 my husband had organized the shearing the week I got home with new baby and nearly 5 and nearly 3 year old- one of the shearer’s would cook tea nearly every night or help me prepare all depended on babies needs- I always cook your scone recipe but I put all dough in rectangle dish-cook- and slice into 12 -15 scones- I take this into a Vinnies morning tea each week and never bring any home- experiment with additives threw a punnet of blueberry’s last week and they were a hit.

More than a cook book. Recipes are great, the photos are sensational. They arrived beautifully presented which was great for me as I want to give them as gifts. Local and overseas. The spiral bound is perfect for folding back and not taking up too much room on the bench.

We have measurements on all our products online. All our products are regular fit - in unisex sizing. A ladies 10-12 usually wear a Small.

About Our Founder
I (Carlie) grew up on a sheep station in Western NSW with my parents & brother & sister. Travelling 250km just for groceries, helping work in the paddock as a family before & after school. Our lifestyle(and avoiding sheepwork at any cost) is what inspired me to start my own business
